Deciding to charter a private yacht for the vacation of a lifetime is an easy choice. What's not to like? You'll have a yacht just for you and family and friends, your own cabin, a personal chef, and an experienced captain to do all the “heavy lifting.” Though your feedback is needed for some aspects of chartering a catamaran, your overall experience onboard will be very relaxed. The beauty of a private chartered catamaran is that you and your guests will get to explore at your own pace, eat what you want, and engage in only the activities that interest you most.
All inclusive, crewed Catamarans depart from any number of ports, but they are most commonly found in the waters of a few Caribbean islands. The Virgin Islands, for example, frequently are the base for crewed Catamarans. The US Virgin Island St. Thomas is a big yachting hub and will have a number of Catamarans based there to choose from also.
If you catch your luxury catamaran in St. Thomas or Tortola, you should plan to sail the rest of the Virgin Islands. St. Croix, St. John, Jost Van Dyke, and Virgin Gorda all have hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Other islands you might ask about for Catamaran sailing would be further south; the French islands Guadeloupe and Martinique but there will be far fewer choices if any there. Another choice you might have heard of and inquire about is the Grenadines where you can enjoy some fantastic diving. Again, there may be some choices here but far fewer than the Virgin islands.
Catamaran charters are also possible sometimes in St. Vincent, St. Lucia, and St. Martin. St. Vincent is for nature lovers; there is everything from rainforest to tropical gardens, bird watching to beaches. All of this and a volcano! St. Lucia covers the gamut when it comes to luxury. Known as a romantic spot, St. Lucia also offers biking trails, mountain hikes, and golf courses. Need a boutique or spa? You've come to the right place. St. Martin has a number of wonderful beaches, and the Marigot area is full of cafes, bars, shops, and music. Don't forget to check out the Dutch side of the island, St. Maarten, while you're there!
The last Catamaran destination (or starting point) worth mentioning is Antigua. Antigua hosts an annual charter show and is no stranger to entertaining the jet set. This island, in the middle of the Leeward Islands, is another major yachting hub and is a favorable sailing site because of its nearly constant trade winds. Your captain will be only too happy to take you there! Wherever you decide to start your adventure and wherever the journey takes you, you can be sure that a privately chartered Catamaran will excite, entertain, and indulge your entire group.
